<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device having improved reliability. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser element 3 which emits a laser beam in a planar direction, a reflection mirror 4 which reflects the laser beam upwards, and a signal detecting photodetector 5 which detects the signals of the incident laser beam, are provided inside a insulating frame 2 for the formation of the semiconductor laser device 1, and a plurality of leads 8 are fixed to the opposed lengthwise end walls 2a and 2b extending in a horizontal direction.
