<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an accurate synchronizing signal on the receiving side in an OFDM signal transmission-reception system. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitting side apparatus of the system has an IFFT circuit for generating a multi-level QAM modulating signal, a guard interval setting circuit and a clock signal generating circuit for driving both the circuits. A pilot signal of a higher-order frequency of which a phase is set to a predetermined value is generated in each of a plurality of symbol blocks by the IFFT circuit. The pilot signal is set to be present for an integral wavelength within a guard interval, to be present for the odd multiple of a half wavelength, to be present as a signal of a real number part or is multiplied with "4" to be present as a signal of a single frequency. The pilot signal is successively sent out over a plurality of symbol blocks and on the side of a receiving apparatus, based upon the pilot signal.
