PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of transmitting image data without connecting to a notebook computer for transmitting the image data and connecting to a cellular telephone, and capable of transmitting an e-mail with position information without searching for its own position information to a receiving terminal. SOLUTION: In an image pickup apparatus 1 for transmitting picked-up image data to a communication network, when the image data picked up with the apparatus 1 are transmitted, position information and image data obtained by a position information acquiring means 14 are attached to an e-mail, and the e-mail is transmitted to the receiving terminal 2 via a transmitting means 17.
