PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector for performing focus adjustment with an excellent operability in a short time in the case that screen size is changed. SOLUTION: Illumination light emitted from a light source device 1 is reflected on an image formation element 2 to enlarge an image produced on the image formation element 2 with four aspheric reflection mirrors 3a-3d that are in an image forming optical system so as to reproduce a large screen on a screen 4. The focus adjustment is carried out by mounting the reflection mirror 3c on a table 6 to be moved (drawn out) with a drive motor 5 in the direction of a light axis, and changing a distance between the image forming optical system 3 and the image formation element 2. CPU 10 applies the optimum voltage to the drive motor 5 to change a revolving speed so as to adjust a moving speed of the reflection mirror 3c by the screen size from a memory 11 storing relation between a position of the table 6 read by a position sensor 7 and a drawing-out amount (moving amount) of the reflection mirror and the screen size.
