PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic braking device capable of reducing noises during rotation of a brake shoe and improving whole rotation balance. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic braking device 10 comprises an electromagnet 12 mounted to a device body 11, a friction plate 13 attracted to or separated from the electromagnet 12, a gear hub 14 fixed to the tip 28a of a rotating shaft 28 and has a plurality of tooth sections 14a on the outer periphery, and a brake shoe 15 or the like having, on the inner periphery, a plurality of tooth sections 15a meshing with the plurality of tooth sections 14a on the outer periphery of the gear hub 14. During the non-conduction of the electromagnet 12, the friction plate 13 is pressed to the brake shoe 15 to brake the brake shoe 15. During the conduction of the electromagnet 12, the friction plate 13 is attracted to the electromagnet 12 to separate it from the brake shoe 15 to release the braking of the brake shoe 15. A notch 15d is formed in a part of the outer periphery of the brake shoe 15, and one tooth section 14a' of the gear hub 14 at a position symmetric to the notch 15d is notched. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
