PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a perfluorocarboxylic acid fluoride by an economically advantageous method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the perfluorocarboxylic acid fluoride represented by formula (5): R<SP>F2</SP>COF comprises fluorinating a compound represented by formula (3): Q(COOR<SP>H</SP>)<SB>n</SB>in a liquid phase to give a compound represented by formula (4): Q<SP>f</SP>(COOR<SP>F1</SP>)<SB>n</SB>and decomposing the compound represented by formula (4). R<SP>H</SP>is an R(OCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>k</SB>(R is a 1-10C organic group; k is an integer of≥1); R<SP>F1</SP>is an R<SP>F3</SP>(OCF<SB>2</SB>CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>k</SB>(R<SP>F3</SP>is a monofunctional organic group in which the R is perfluorinated; k is as shown above); R<SP>F2</SP>is an R<SP>F3</SP>(OCF<SB>2</SB>CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>k-1</SB>OCF<SB>2</SB>(R<SP>F3</SP>and k are as shown above); Q is an n-functional fluorine-containing organic group; Q<SP>f</SP>is an n-functional organic group in which the Q is perfluorinated; n is an integer of≥1.
