PURPOSE: A device for removing particulates of a diesel engine and a control method thereof are provided to prevent a catalyst from being damaged by the particulates and increase the output of the engine by attaching some of the particulates contained in the exhaust gas to an absorption plate before flowing into a catalytic converter and burning the particulates attached on the absorption plate with an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) if the exhaust pressure of the engine is increased. CONSTITUTION: In a structure for combining a catalytic converter(30) for purifying the harmful exhaust gas passing through an exhaust manifold(21) of an engine(20) with the exhaust manifold and flanges(22,32), a device for removing particulates of a diesel engine is composed of an annular body(40) interposed between the exhaust manifold and the flanges of the catalytic converter; a mesh sieve positioned in the inner peripheral surface of the body and radially arranged with a plurality of absorption plates about a center of the body; a heating device for applying high voltage to the mesh sieve if the exhaust pressure is increased in operating the engine; an ECU(50) for deciding operation conditions of the engine and controlling the heating device to the decided result; and a battery(52) for supplying electricity to the heating device.
