PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium reproducing apparatus capable of preventing a recording medium smaller than a prescribed recording medium such as a card type CD from entering an apparatus main body. SOLUTION: The recording medium reproducing apparatus 1, which reads information in a CD of a prescribed diameter, is provided with the apparatus main body 3, a carrying unit 4 and a carrying preventing/permitting mechanism 5. The apparatus main body 3 is provided with a recording medium insertion port 12. The carrying unit 4 carries the CD along a carrying route R. The carrying preventing/permitting mechanism 5 is provided with a stopper mechanism 39. The stopper mechanism 39 is provided with a stopper member 45. The stopper member 39 is provided with a flat plate 47 and a stopper protrusion 48. The flat plate 47 is overlapped on the driving chassis 16 of the chassis 8 of the apparatus main body 3. The protrusion 48 projects into the carrying route R when the flat plate 47 is overlapped on the driving chassis 16. The protrusion 48 contacts with the recording medium smaller than the CD to prevent this recording medium from entering the inside of the apparatus main body 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
