摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermoelectric conversion element which has an excellent performance index Z and does not allow cracks to occur therein when subjected to plastic working under shearing force. SOLUTION: The method for producing the thermoelectric conversion element has the step of extruding a material 4, which is a BiTe-based thermoelectric material, by an equivalent-sectional-area lateral extrusion method. In the method, the material 4 is extruded by applying an extrusion pressure P1 to the material 4 in the extrusion direction in between an extrusion passage inlet 11 and a bent section 14 with a pressing plunger 2 moving at a moving speed of 7 mm/sec or lower, while applying a back pressure P2 in the reverse direction of the extrusion direction in between the bent section 14 and an extrusion passage outlet 12 with a back pressure plunger 3.
