PURPOSE: An automatic meter reading system by using a satellite communication networks is provided to realize the automatic meter reading with low costs at an area where a conventional communication device is not used. CONSTITUTION: An automatic meter reading system by using a satellite communication networks includes a telemetry terminal(10), a reading concentrator(40), a satellite communication link(50) and a telemetry server(30). The telemetry terminal(10) transmits the measured value through a cable or a wireless communication link and operates as a sleep mode after the measurement is finished. The reading concentrator(40) is connected to the telemetry terminal(10) through the cable or the wireless communication link for transmitting the measurement command to the telemetry terminal(10). After the measurement data is received from the telemetry terminal(10), the reading concentrator(40) transmits the measurement data to the server. The satellite communication link(50) transmits the measurement command or the measurement data between the reading concentrator(40) and the telemetry server(30). And, the telemetry server(30) manages the information for the telemetry terminal(10) and the reading concentrator(40) and charges and statistically processes the collected measurement data of each terminal through the satellite communication link(50).
