DEHYDRATING METHOD BY PHOTOCHEMICAL REACTION IN PREPARATION OF OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM

PURPOSE: Provided is a dehydrating method by a photochemical reaction in a preparation of an optical fiber preform, which removes hydroxide groups by accelerating the ionization of a dehydrating gas(Cl2) by light in a process of depositing a reaction gas to a synthetic tube. CONSTITUTION: The dehydrating method is performed by radiating the light with a specific band to the dehydrating gas directly in a soot(12) producing reaction area to accelerate the ionization of the dehydrating gas by the photochemical reaction and then removing impurities containing hydrogen by the ionized dehydrating gas by a chemical reaction. The light radiated to the dehydrating gas is ultraviolet rays having a wavelength of less than 400nm or laser having a wavelength of less than 200nm.
