<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conduction membrane excellent in gas barrier property and proton conductivity. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane has layered clay mineral powders which are a cation exchanger or an anion exchanger and a cross-linked structure composed of -O-SO2-O- group which constructs bridge in between the the layered clay mineral powders. Furthermore, it is obtained by acting a reforming agent which is a cation exchanger or an anion exchanger, and which is one or more compounds selected from a group consisting of sulfuric acid and metal salt of sulfuric acid on the layered clay mineral powders having acid site on the surface. That is, by changing the compound derived from phosphoric acid which cross-links between the layered clay mineral powders into sulfuric acid which is a stronger acid, proton conduction capability can be improved. Furthermore, as this proton conduction membrane cross-links the layered clay mineral powders by the compound having the proton conductivity, gas permeability can be reduced while keeping the proton conductivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
