PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generator and an air conditioner by which lowering of generation amount of ions is suppressed.

SOLUTION: A first supporting part 153 has a first stationary part 153c fixed to a first installation face S1 and a first electrode holding part 153a provided at a position remote from the first installation face S1. A discharging part has an electric discharge electrode 154 held by the first electrode holding part 153a. A second supporting part 156 has a second stationary part 156c fixed to the first installation face S1 and a second electrode holding part 156a provided at a position remote from the first installation face S1. A counter part has an counter electrode 157 held by the second electrode holding part 156a. A voltage supplying part 158 supplies prescribed voltage to the electric discharge electrode 154. Further length of the counter electrode 157 in a direction connecting the first electrode holding part 153a and the second electrode holding part 156a is shorter than half of the shortest distance connecting the first electrode holding part 153a and the second electrode holding part 156a.
