PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector without sensitivity fluctuation by stabilizing the electric field occurred in the radiation detector with split electrodes using light irradiation. SOLUTION: By irradiating light from a surface emitting plate 11, one type of the charges occurred by the light is already accumulated in space areas between split electrodes 3 (denoted by reference code A). Consequently, as shown by the dotted arrows in a semiconductor thick film 7, the electric flux lines are distorted and the sensitive areas can be calculated as (a+b)×(y+z) from the beginning. The travelling charges extend to the split electrodes 3 along the electric flux lines, and since the charges are not further accumulated into the space between the split electrodes 3, the state of the electric flux lines and the fluctuation of the sensitive areas are not both changed, resulting in no fluctuation of the sensitivity.
