PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement detection method, a control method, a movement detector, a controller and a computer program that can detect a movement of an object of movement detection with unconventionally low computational complexity. SOLUTION: With each coordinate axis as a base, a first cumulative value of the number of pixels from one end coordinate of a differential pixel region to a first coordinate xL, and a second cumulative value of the number of pixels from the other end coordinate to a second coordinate xR are calculated. The first cumulative value and the second cumulative value are compared. If the first cumulative value is larger, the second coordinate is shifted toward the one end coordinate and the second cumulative value is increased, and if the second cumulative value is larger, the first coordinate is shifted toward the other end coordinate and the first cumulative value is increased, until matching between the first coordinate and the second coordinate is detected. In dependence on the first coordinate and second coordinate that are detected matching, a coordinate bisecting the total number of pixels of the differential pixel region is decided.
