PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially prevent noise voltage generated at the time of rising (or falling) of a signal voltage from affecting a screen display when PWM-controlling a simple-matrix display. SOLUTION: A PWM signal voltage applied to each signal electrode X1-X4 of a simple matrix display to be controlled by PMW is controlled so that the forward-shifted signal voltage and the backward-shifted signal voltage are almost of the same frequency within an arbitrary period to a certain electrode to be scanned.
