PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a phosphor screen for use in a computer radiography system which can be photo-stimulated and makes it possible to form an image having a good signal to noise ratio even when using X ray quantum having a low energy as in mammography image formation. SOLUTION: The production method is a method comprising the step of depositing, on a substrate, a phosphor of a phosphor screen having a phosphor layer comprising a CsX:Eu<SP>2+</SP>phosphor representing a halide selected from the group wherein at least the substrate and X consist of Br and Cl, by physical vapor deposition. During deposition, the substrate has a temperature ranging from 135°C to 235°C. The fluctuation of the substrate temperature occurring during the deposition process is not more than 50°C.
