PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to track an object which is moving relatively to a sensor even if occlusion is generated, in a measuring method and an instrument of object position/form by an ultrasonic array sensor. SOLUTION: Position information and reflection intensity of the object to be tracked are detected by using the ultrasonic sensor, and a detecting object map ZM and a reflection intensity map RM are obtained. By simulating an intensity value at each point by using the maximum reflection intensity value on the front side of the sensor as a standard, data only in a range which is predetermined based on an upper limit H and a lower limit L of the reflection intensity are extracted and a reliable and new detection object map ZM is created. Object tracking is executed with respect to a tracking point group on the detection object map 2M obtained in a time series order while performing decision of characteristic point, detection of occlusion, and inclusion of occlusion to a pattern for matching.
