摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a fibrous solid carbon aggregate where the number of ultra-fine graphite filaments such as carbon nano-tube type fiber is increased, and a method for producing the same. CONSTITUTION: The fibrous solid carbon aggregate is characterized in that many ultra-fine graphite filaments(6) are grown on the surface of a carbonized fibrous body(8), in the inside of the fibrous body and in a gap between the fibrous bodies. The method comprises steps of depositing fine particles of a catalyst on the surfaces of the fibrous body, in the inside of each fibrous bodies and in the gap between the fibrous bodies; and contacting the catalyst fine-particles deposited fibrous bodies with a hydrocarbon gas at a high temperature in an anaerobic condition to carbonize the fibrous bodies and generate and grow a limitless number of ultra-fine graphite filaments on the surfaces of the fibrous bodies, in the inside of each fibrous bodies and in the gap between the fibrous bodies.
