METHOD FOR DESULFURIZING MOLTEN IRON USING HYDROCARBON BASED CARRIER GAS

PURPOSE: A method for desulfurizing molten iron using hydrocarbon based carrier gas is provided to improve desulfurizing reaction efficiency of desulfurizer injected into molten iron by using the mixed gas as the carrier gas after mixing a certain ratio of hydrocarbon based gas as desulfurizer carrier gas with conventional nitrogen gas. CONSTITUTION: In desulfurizing operation performed by injecting CaO based desulfurizer into molten iron supplied from blast furnace through lance, the method for desulfurizing molten iron using hydrocarbon based carrier gas is characterized in that a mixed gas obtained by mixing a certain ratio of hydrocarbon based gas with nitrogen gas is used as a carrier gas for injecting the desulfurizer into molten iron, wherein the hydrocarbon based gas is mixed with the nitrogen gas in the volume range of 25 to 200% for the total volume of the nitrogen gas.
