The clay spheres (7) or granules are fired at high temperature, up to 1200 degreesC. Their diameter is 3-18 mm. Their cavities and fissures are able to absorb a volume equivalent to 63% of the weight of the spheres. This state is optimal for waste gas- and contaminated air purification. Preferred Features: The granules are loose and do not adhere together, thus facilitating recycling. They are alkali- and acid resistant. They form a compact mass which does not disintegrate. They resist crushing and have a long operating life, by contrast with activated carbon. The fired spherical shape offers a large contact area, expressed by D = 1.5 cm U = 3.5 cm2 F. An Independent claim is included for an equipment forcing-in a solution of salts, which after drying, leave a white precipitate covering the internal and external surfaces.
