Blocking pressure seal with pump action for sealing a rotating shaft (3) from a housing (1) comprises a stay (15) surrounding the shaft and attached to the housing and having an inlet channel (32) and a return channel (38) for a blocking medium, an inner floating ring seal (11) sealing the shaft from the interior of the housing, and an outer floating ring seal (23) sealing the shaft from the environment. Each floating ring seal has two floating rings pre-tensioned against each other. A circulation path for the blocking medium runs between the channels and along the floating ring seals. The stay has in the central region (33) between the two floating ring seals a smooth conical pump channel wall (34) widening in the flow direction for conveying the blocking medium.
