The file shredder has a collecting device for the shredded material designed as a conveyor belt (5) which is set in the lower frame underneath an outlet shaft (4) and is designed to move in and out for emptying during the shredding process. The belt can be exchanged for a waste container. A stop (8) for the work position is provided in the frame for the belt or container. The conveyor belt can have a hopper (7) on the part underneath the outlet shaft.
