(A) Compds. of general formula (I). A= an opt. unsat. 1,2-hexacyclic carbocyclic residue. Alk= a (1-2c) alkylene bridge Ph= a 1,2-phenylene residue, subst. by -C(R')(R2)CO2H pref. at 4 or 5. R'= H or (1-7c) alkyl R2=H or an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic residue. Residues Ph and A, are opt. subst. e.g. by 1 or more (1-7c) alkyl, OH, Oalkyl, Oacyl, -S H, S-alkyl, S-acyl, hal, CF3, NO2, NH2, NH acyl, N(alkyl)2, N-alkylene, CO2H, CN, CONH2, CON alkyl2, CO2 alkyl, SO2 alkyl, SO2, SO2NH2, SO2N alkyl2, etc. (b) Functional derivs of I e.g. esters, amides, thioamides, hydroxyamides, quat. ammonium derivs. and salts. Anti-inflammatories.
