The inner face of the outer wall 2, Fig. 0, of a double-walled liquefied gas container is lined with liquid-impervious heat insulating material 3, e.g. foamed synthetic resin, and this in turn is lined with a layer of pervious heat insulating material 4, e.g. mineral wool, the thickness of material 3 being such that in the event of leakage through the inner wall 1 and layer 4, the temperature of the outer wall does not fall sufficiently to result in embrittlement thereof. The pervious layer may comprise panels 6, Fig. 1, held in a frame formed by ribs 5 projecting inwardly from material 3. |
