Treatment of waste water and biological waste to produce biogas and energy comprises feeding sludge from the activated sludge basin (1) to the post-clarification basin (3) in an amount which maintains a predetermined value. Unstabilized activated sludge is also recycled to a biogas generator (6) together with an excess of biogenic waste. The mixture is heated to produce biogas and is converted to solid end products and liquid fertilizer which are fed to a separator (11).
