Blood pressure measurement method based on determination of the pulse wave transit time. Accordingly the difference between a signal measured using an impedance cardiograph that corresponds to the haemo-dynamic heart performance and an optical or acoustically determined peripheral pulse wave signal is determined. An Independent claim is made for a blood pressure measurement device with an impedance cardiograph measurement device and an optical or acoustic peripheral pulse wave measurement arrangement.
