Improving position-location in radio communications networks, measures propagation time differences to determine maximum value in zone of hyperbolic location curve overlap

Differences in propagation times (DELTAt13, DELTAt14, DELTAt34) from the communications unit (UE1) to be located, and/or from at least one higher-order radio network controller (SRNC1) are measured. Hyperbolic location curves (HY31, HY41, HY43) are determined. In their (HY) overlap zone (UB), a two dimensional enveloping structure is generated. Its absolute maximum value (AM) is determined. The position (AP) of the maximum value (AM) is assigned to the radio communications unit (UE1). An Independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
