Method for updating or exchanging application software in a terminal (4) using a maintenance PC (MPC) that contains the source code. The code is transferred to the terminal as new application software (AS) combined with an installation manager (EM). A loading manager (LM) in the terminal organizes storage of the transferred code in free memory space, while the installation manager copies the new program code into valid memory (10) addresses. An Independent claim is made for a system for updating or exchanging application software in a terminal.
