Small pellet shaped articles, such as pharmaceutical tablets or capsules, are marked with identification symbols by means of a machine with a hopper (5) to receive the pellets. An endless belt (10) passes underneath the hopper (5) which is fully open on its underside. - The belt (10) has two rows of pockets with the shape of each pocket matching the shape of the pellet. The belt (10) receives the pellets from the hopper (5) transports them to the marking head (6) and then discharges them on to a ramp (16).
