A cutting insert has a polygonal, e.g. triangular, body of which at least one face has a continuous marginal land 12 and an inner plateau 13 spaced therefrom by a chip-breaker groove 14, the sides of the plateau being convex, whereby the width of the groove increases from points midway between the corners of the body towards the corners. The groove may vary in depth from deepest points at the corners. Both faces may be so formed. |
