METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALUMINA CONTAINING LOW CONTENT OF SODIUM OXIDE

PURPOSE: A method for producing alumina with a low content of sodium oxide is provided to produce the high value-added alumina with low cost and high efficiency in an environmentally friendly way. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing alumina with a low content of sodium oxide comprises the steps of preparing an active transition alumina by conducting thermal cracking of aluminum hydroxide under nitrogen atmosphere, and treating the resulted active transition alumina with an aqueous organic acid solution to remove Na+ ion in order to lower the content of Na2O for example to less than 0.05%, wherein the thermal cracking is carried out at 400-800 deg.C for 5-20 minutes, and the treatment with the organic acid is carried out at 27-100 deg.C for 5-60 minutes.
