PURPOSE: A power supply unit of a motor and a method for supplying power to a motor are provided to enhance the efficiency of energy by applying an over-voltage to an input power source in a process for applying the over-voltage to a DC converter. CONSTITUTION: A power supply unit of a motor includes an AC power supply part(1), a DC conversion part(7) for converting the commercial AC power to the DC power, and an anti-inrush current resistor(4) installed between the AC power supply part(1) and the DC conversion part(7). The power supply unit of the motor further includes an over-voltage protection switching part(5), a sensing part, and a control part(20). The over-voltage protection switching part(5) is installed between the anti-inrush current resistor(4) and the DC conversion part. The sensing part is used for sensing the voltage between both ends of the DC conversion part. The control part(20) is used for controlling on/off operation of the over-voltage protection switching part. |
