PURPOSE: A power supply unit of a motor and a method for supplying power to a motor are provided to reduce the number of components and a manufacturing cost by using a resistor to prevent the generation of inrush current and over-voltage. CONSTITUTION: A power supply unit of a motor includes an AC power supply part(1), a diode rectification circuit(3) for rectifying the AC power of the AC power supply part(1), and a DC capacitor(15) for smoothing the rectified power. The power supply unit of the motor further includes a resistor(12), a relay(11), a sensing part, and a control part(20). The resistor(12) is installed between the diode rectification circuit and the DC capacitor(15). The resistor(12) is connected to the DC capacitor. The relay(11) has the first contact point and the second contact point, which are connected to the diode rectification circuit and the resistor. The sensing part is used for sensing the voltage between both ends of the DC capacitor. The control part(20) is used for controlling the relay in order to arrange the diode rectification circuit and the resistor.
