A Modular Muffler for an exhaust system comprised of an outer shell with a g as entry means, which can accommodate any one of a selection of inserts or modules with gas exit means which when assembled and held together by a retention means, per fortes a function unique to the combination. Functional changes to the muffler and or the exhaust system can then be readily made without the need for special facilities.
