The hip prosthesis (1) comprises a body (2) which extends along a vertical axis (3). The shape of the body is constituted by a stack of horizontal sections. On its external face there is a shoulder the base of which is adapted to be placed at the level of the small trochanter when the prosthesis is placed in the femur. The horizontal sections are offset from each other by translation in the front and saggital directions so as to form, in addition to the two support points constituted by the shoulder and by the part of the internal face at the height of the shoulder, a rear bulge (12) to be located under the small trochanter when the prosthesis is placed in the femur.
