PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique making it possible to efficiently gather the newest information when collecting electronic information from a source of information. SOLUTION: The method for gathering electronic information from at least one or more sources of information includes the step of gathering information from the sources of information; the step of determining the redundancy of newly gathered information on the basis of similarity in contents between this information newly gathered by the gathering and information previously gathered by the gathering; and the step of determining whether or not the newly gathered information determined to be redundant needs to be stored, according to at least either one of the periods of gathering or updating the newly gathered information and the redundant, previously gathered information.
