PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system capable of achieving a memory dump method using a control bus without requiring hardware expansion leading to increases in the size and cost of LSI and a decrease in the speed of a memory dump process, even in the event of a serious failure causing deadlock of the control bus. SOLUTION: In the event of a serious failure with the hardware of the computer system, firmware causes setting information inside a controller and an IO device at the completion of booting to be stored in advance into a memory area dedicated to a main storage device. This setting information is read upon the occurrence of a machine-check interrupt. After the controller and the IO device are reset, the machine-check interrupt process of the operating system is activated to move the contents of the main storage device to an external storage device connected to the IO device.
