PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a contact life of an electromagnetic relay with a movable contact and a fixed contact carried by a leaf spring material by securing enough displacement volume of contact parts on a surface of the both contacts. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic relay 10 is provided with a supporting factor 50 fitted to an operating member 18 as a relative movement prevention structure for practically preventing a relative movement of the movable contact 42 and the operating member 18, while the operating member 18 makes an excessive movement to the limit of a to-and-fro movement range after having the movable contact 42 and the fixed contact 44 in contact with each other at a breaking time of a make-contact. The supporting factor 50 supports the movable contact 42 carried by the movable contact leaf spring member 46 from the rear side in continuation of the excessive movement of the operating member 18. With this, an unneeded bending not in design apt to be generated in one area extended between the movable contact and a coupling portion of the operating member of the movable contact leaf spring member 46 is effectively removed to have the displacement volume at a contact portion of the contact enough secured, which improves the contact life of a contact part 16.
