The connecting elements (13) are part of a spreader plug (10) extending round the joint cup (11) and connected up positively with the inner surround wall (14) of the cup for the handling operation. In the case of conical or truncatedly conical cups the plug is similarly shaped as a spreader cone, and should the cup inner wall be stepped so the connecting elements are stepped likewise. The plug has three to six wall sectors (13) spaced by axial slits (12) and a central expander used to spread the wall sectors radially outwards for cup engagement. Additional components include the screw cup (11) threads (15) for placement.
