The positioning method involves: (1) providing a fixed reference point (32) on the circumference of a positioning disc (18); (2) bringing a measuring probe (28) into contact with the disc circumference; (3) moving the disc away from the reference point and the probe away from the disc twice that moved by disc; (4) adjusting the tool so that its target circumference extends through the reference point; (5) moving the rotating disc towards the rotating tool (10) and the probe towards the disc circumference twice that moved by disc; and (6) ending the positioning method once the probe comes into contact with the disc. An Independent claim is also include for a positioning device used to carry out this method.
