The cable tensioner for a buckle or end fitting (11) of safety belt system has a piston (16) inside a pressure chamber (15), whereby the longitudinal axis of the pressure chamber and adjoining guide tube is offset in relation to the inlet axis of the actuating cable (10) into a deflection component (13). The deflection component and pressure chamber are constructed in a uniform cast component (12). A passage bridging the offset and leading from the cable inlet into the cast component to the pressure chamber is located inside the cast component.
