<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly determine whether a detachable unit is unused or not. <P>SOLUTION: The process cartridge (detachable unit) has: an input gear 32A, a rotation transmission gear (rotation transmission member)32B that engages with the input gear 32A with play, and a coil spring (pressing member)42 which presses the input gear 32A in a direction to increase the play between the gears 32A and 32B. Meanwhile, an image forming apparatus body has a main body gear 41. When the detachable unit is attached to the image forming device body by engaging the input gear 32A with the stopping main body gear 41, the input gear 32A rotates in a normal direction N. However, the rotation is not transmitted to the gear 32B due to the play. When the detachable unit is detached from the image forming device body, the input gear 32A engaging with the stopping main gear 41 rotates in a reverse direction R.
