<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing cost of an intermediate shaft superior in transmission performance of rotation based on steering operation in a steering device. <P>SOLUTION: This steering device has an intermediate shaft 10 for transmitting the rotation based on the steering operation to a steering gear. The intermediate shaft 10 has an outer shaft 11 and an inner shaft 21 relatively movably joined in the shaft direction so that the shaft length becomes short for absorbing impact energy by impulsive force. A serration 24 is formed only on an outer peripheral surface 22a of the inner shaft 21, and this serration 24 is pressed in so as to bite in an inner peripheral surface 12b of the outer shaft 11, and joins the outer shaft 11 and the inner shaft 21. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
