<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor and control a synchronizer in a neutral position to prevent it from drifting from the position into a contact state that is commanded so as not to cause interference or damage to a transmission. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided a process where a control routine is triggered to move the synchronizer to a prescribed total engagement position with a gear set, and a process to monitor the positions of all synchronizers that are engaged. In addition, such process is included as the control routine is re-triggered to restore the synchronizer to the total engagement position if any engaged synchronizer slides beyond a prescribed minimum engagement position. There are further provided a process where the control routine is re-triggered to move the synchronizer to a neutral position for monitoring a position of the synchronizer whose engagement is released, and a process where the control routine is re-triggered to restore the synchronizer to the neutral position if the synchronizer whose engagement is released drifts beyond a prescribed neutral hysterisis position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
