PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-precision torque detection by preventing the dimensional errors of detecting rinds which rotate integrally with a first and a second shafts from exerting influence on detection accuracy of steering torque. SOLUTION: In the detecting rings 2, 3 which integrally rotate respectively with the first and second shafts 11, 12 united coaxially via a torsion bar 10, ring marks 21, 31 are formed between predetermined teeth 20, 20 and 30, 30 out of two or more teeth 20, 20, 30, 30, etc., formed side by side as detection sections in the facing end surfaces of these rings. In the external perimeters of the first and second shafts 11, 12, shaft marks 13, 14 which match with the ring marks 21, 31 are formed. Using these ring marks 21, 31 and shaft marks 13, 14 as references, the detecting rings 2, 3 are aligned in their peripheral directions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
