<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output more useful information and further enhance the diagnostic performance of the image of an abnormal shadow candidate in a system for abnormal shadow candidate detection process. <P>SOLUTION: The certainty of malignancy D, expressing the degree of possibility for the shadow to be malignant, of an abnormal shadow candidate P1 detected by the abnormal shadow candidate detection process is calculated based on index values indicating the characteristics of the candidate P1 and the interrelation between the index values and the possibility for the shadow to be malignant obtained from the clinical result.
