PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic still camera by converting a single lens reflex camera for a silver salt film to a digital camera system with an imaging element without using a mechanical configuration. SOLUTION: In the electronic still camera, where a photographic subject luminous flux from a photographic lens is incident upon a sensor face 53 of the imaging element 51 through an optical element, the optical element 51 is formed in a concave lens shape so that an imaging position IP of the photographic subject formed by the photographic lens is shifted backward to the photographic lens.
