PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer provided with subtanks at different heights in which ink is supplied efficiently from a main tank to the subtanks. SOLUTION: The printer performs printing by ejecting ink from a nozzle onto a print medium. The printer comprises a first subtank disposed at a relatively high position, a second subtank disposed at a relatively low position, and a main tank for supplying ink to the first and second subtanks. When ink is supplied to the first subtank, it is supplied from the main tank under a relatively high first pressure. When ink is supplied to the second subtank, it is supplied from the main tank under a relatively low second pressure. The first and second pressures have such pressure levels as ink is not ejected from the nozzle opening even if the ink is supplied from the main tank to the subtank under such a state as it can be supplied from the subtank to the nozzle opening.
