PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain dispersion of a set value caused by dimensional tolerance of an outer column, an inner column and a spacer on a steering column and to reduce energy consumption of a press fitting machine. SOLUTION: The steering column 4 of a steering device has the outer column 11 and the inner column 21 connected to each other by press fitting through the spacer 31 relatively movable when impact force exceeding the set value works. A plurality of axial direction grooves 24 to open to an end surface 21c in the axial direction of the inner column 21 by extending in the axial direction with space in the circumferential direction are formed on an outer peripheral surface 21a which is a sliding surface with the spacer 31 on the inner column 21 when the relative movement is caused.
